Prenatal+DHA is a balanced, synergistic formula that provides a curated compilation of nutrients your developing baby requires in the optimal ratios for absorption, metabolism, and safety. Prenatal+DHA is a top-rated, exclusive formula sourced directly from nature containing pure unadulterated ingredients and meets the highest nutraceutical standards.

More about Prenatal+DHA:
The structural fatty acid DHA is crucial for proper eye and central nervous system development, impacting some of the most significant brain functions including vision, cognition and motor function. While DHA is important for everyone, it can be especially vital for babies. Fetuses get DHA while in the womb, and babies could get DHA through their mother’s milk. But, many women do not have enough DHA for themselves, let alone enough DHA for two. Prenatal supplements that are fortified with DHA increase the level of DHA in expectant and new mothers so that both mother and baby can benefit.
Another crucial component of Prenatal+DHA is the nutrient folate. Unlike folic acid, the source Biofolate® (L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate Calcium) is body ready, which means it requires no complex conversion and eliminates the risk of unmetabolized folic acid. This naturally occurring form of folate is required by as many as 50% of pregnant women due to an MTFHR gene mutation, as these women either lack the enzymes needed to receive any benefit from synthetic folic acid or cannot fully process synthetic folic acid at RDA or higher dose levels.

FAQs

What are the benefits of DHA in pregnancy?

DHA has been proven to be absolutely essential during the critical periods of pregnancy and early infancy. Maternal DHA levels directly impact the developing central nervous system and the cognition (mental development) of the developing baby, as well as the vision and motor function. Research also shows that DHA taken in pregnancy supports the mother as well.

Why did you include Chromium in Prenatal +DHA?

We included chromium in Prenatal +DHA to help support healthy blood sugar levels, which is always beneficial but is even more important during pregnancy.

What is the difference between the folate, Biofolate® (L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate Calcium) in Prenatal +DHA versus standard folic acid found in most prenatal supplements?

The naturally occurring, metabolically active form of methylfolate found in Prenatal +DHA is the most stable and bioactive form of folate. Methylated folate is body ready, which means it requires no complex conversion and eliminates the risk of un-metabolized folic acid. This naturally occurring form of folate is required by a large percentage of women due to an MTFHR gene mutation, as these women either lack the enzymes needed to receive any benefit from synthetic folic acid, or cannot fully process synthetic folic acid at RDA or higher dose levels.

Can I take both of the softgels at once? I find that if I don't take them both the same time I forget the second dose.

Yes, you can take both softgels at the same time. That is definitely better than taking only 1 a day. However, for maximum absorption it's recommended to take the softgels separately with at least a 3-hour space between them.

Can I take this Prenatal supplement while breastfeeding?

Absolutely. When one is breastfeeding, the baby is receiving all the nutrients it needs, often depleting the mother. Therefore, it is crucial for breastfeeding mothers to take a quality supplement such as Prenatal +DHA300 to provide both mother and baby with the nutrients needed.

Does the Prenatal +DHA 300 contain synthetic folic acid or natural folate?

Zahler Prenatal +DHA 300 contains only methylated folate, no synthetic folic acid at all.

What is the source of the Kosher Gelatin in the Prenatal +DHA300?

The Zahler Prenatal +DHA300 contains Kosher bovine gelatin.

What peoples are saying

Great formulation, slightly fishy smell

I spent a LONG time researching vitamins for the best formulation for the health of my and baby for pregnancy and breastfeeding. I even made a spreadsheet and ranked them all best to worst. This prenatal came out the best of all the18 vitamins brands that did not require 8 pills a day. It includes all your major vitamins, plus some a lot of vitamins don’t include like DHA, Choline, and biotin. I do take an extra choline supplement on days I don’t eat any eggs, but 55mg can be a nice bump up to where you need to be. You do see magnesium, zinc, copper, selenium, manganese, chromium, and molybdenum in some prenatals, but not all, so I love that this formula has all of the above. The vitamin A is 1/2 Retinyl Palmitate and 1/2 beta carotene - most formulas are all beta carotene which your body has to convert to retinyl palmitate, so this is the more easily digestible version. You don’t want 100% retinyl because vitamin A can be pretty easy to get from your diet and can be easy to intake to much. All of the other vitamins are also in the easily digestible forms- folate, the B vitamins, and iron. I love this vitamin has both vitamin K1 and K2 which can be hard to find, both are important for baby and mom. And the high vitamin D makes this formula even better! Most woman in the US are vitamin D deficient. I have definitely noticed an increase in energy since switching to this prenatal which is saying a lot because at 8 months pregnant, I pretty much have no energy lol. I love this vitamin has DHA as well which is soooo important for baby’s brain development, however I wish it did include EPA as well and it does have a slightly off putting taste and smell a lot of DHA supplements have. I wish it had a better coating and I probably would not have been able to stomach this at the height of my morning sickness. But taken with a glass of juice or tea you can barely tell. That is my only negative about this vitamin, all in all a great formulation, especially with only 2 pills. A lot of comparable vitamins had 4 or even 8 pills! I wish they had the option for a bottle instead of pill packs as well as they can be noisy and sometimes I take them at night before bed which bothers my husband. Positives definitely outweigh the negatives, worth the money for sure!

Easy-to-Swallow Prenatal with Quality Ingredients

Updated 8/31/2021: On my 2nd pregnancy and die-hard sticking with this tried-and-true prenatal. I had a smooth, fairly easy pregnancy with my first and credit a lot of the lack of morning sickness and both my and baby's overall healthiness to this prenatal (no actual data to support this claim!). So far with #2, all has been well and I'm feeling great!
---------------------------------------------------
I love this prenatal vitamin! Before I started taking Zahler, I was taking a different, lower-cost prenatal vitamin + DHA vitamin while trying to conceive that was a huge tablet that was hard to swallow (I can't imagine swallowing that one while pregnant and nauseous). Once I got pregnant, I switched over to Zahler due to its high-quality ingredients and natural folate. I researched and compared several brands of prenatal vitamins' list of ingredients against the recommended prenatal ingredients & dosage per ingredient, and this was the top pick, especially when compared against price.

I'm currently 14 weeks pregnant and have had an extremely smooth 1st trimester, no morning sickness, and very little other negative symptoms. Not sure if this is due to Zahler prenatal vitamin, but I'm sure it's only helped! I did try another prenatal that my OB suggested for a week and it left me constipated and mildly nauseous, so I immediately switched back. Since the pills are medium-sized and well-constructed softgel, they are extremely easy to swallow.

The only drawbacks are that it does have a very slight fishy taste when you first put it in your mouth, but take a sip of water and swallow it quickly (don't worry, no fishy burps or anything afterward). Also, it's 2 tablets a day, taken at different times, but I've read that it's also easier on the body to absorb the vitamins when not taken in large doses.

All in all, I couldn't be more satisfie
